Maxim Kadakov, the editor-in-chief of Behind the Wheel, found out on the spot how this happens and what kind of cars they are.
In particular, he learned that the assembly line previously used to assemble Renault models is still standing. And the assembly of Muscovites is carried out on a very compact line with manually moved carts.
A drive unit, suspension, exhaust system and wheels are mounted on fully assembled bodies, then nameplates are glued and camber angles are set.
In fact, this is an SKD assembly of the Chinese crossover JAC JS4. All components are now shipped from China, but after that most of the assembly must be done locally. And in a few years a transition to its own model is promised at all.
Meanwhile, we have Moskvich 3. According to preliminary estimates, prices will range from 1.9 to 2.4 million rubles.
At the moment, the model leaves the impression of a car that can compete very well with classmates. But this is the first impression. And then – let’s see!
- By the way, Moskvich 3 fits under the terms of the preferential car loan program.
