It is important that only clean fuel enters the engine. Looks like it could get in? These are dust, sediment from the bottom of the tank, water, paraffins and other minor contaminants, even mold. All this debris can damage the engine and fuel system. Therefore, it is easier to install a filter than to risk an engine source or spend money on flushing the fuel system.
