The Central Bank is evaluating the possibility of repairing cars under OSAGO with used spare parts. This will reduce the cost of repairing machines and will help make up for the shortfall. In addition, the period for repairs under OSAGO can be extended from 30 to 60 days, and the tariff corridor has been expanded by 30% at the upper limit and by 10% at the lower.

The issue of used spare parts is complicated, as it is not clear what acceptable quality criteria should be set for certain components. A poor quality spare part may later break and the result of the defect may be an accident.

To date, under OSAGO it is already allowed to repair cars with non-original spare parts supplied to Russia, for example, from China.

Parts continue to rise in price, warehouses are gradually emptying, making it increasingly difficult to carry out high-quality car repairs. Used spare parts can partially remedy the situation, but as the Ministry of Finance explained to Izvestia, it is important to avoid dangerous repairs that could affect road safety.
