In Central Russia it has become noticeably colder. In Moscow, weather forecasters promise rain and a drop in air temperature by the weekend. The first snow will fall on Monday (probably!), and although it will melt soon, this is already the first bell.

History of weather observations

According to the Gismeteo service, in recent years the first snow fell in the capital at the end of October – November at a temperature of about 0°C.

The statistics for the past 10 years are as follows:

Forecast for autumn-winter 2022

According to same meteorological service By Monday morning, October 31, melting snow (+1 – +2°) and slippery roads are expected in the capital. And from Wednesday, November 2 to Sunday, November 6, Gismeteo predicts (note!) Such a phenomenon as “black ice”.

Remember that “black ice” is the thinnest layer of ice that evenly covers the road and is almost invisible to the eye. It appears when it rains or sleet during the day, and at night, in sub-zero temperatures, precipitation freezes on the pavement.

It is formed, as a rule, in the evening or early in the morning and is dangerous because drivers are not even aware of its existence: the road just looks like it.

weather news (weather forecast from Phobos) note that we go from abnormal heat to climatic winter. The weekend on the Russian plain will be abnormally warm, but the warming will be short-lived. On Monday night, frost will strike, and in the afternoon the thermometer will “freeze” only + 4 °. Tuesday will be a few degrees colder. At this temperature it becomes extremely dangerous to drive on summer tires on the road.

Until now, only southerners did not need winter tires: in the inter-flow of the Volga and the Don, in the Donbass, in the Kherson and Zaporozhye region, in the Crimea, in the Kuban and in the Caucasus, the average daytime temperature will not yet fall below + 7 ° fall.

hydrometeorological center also warns that an active cyclone, which will move along the northern coast of the European part of Russia, will cause significant weather changes in the capital region: ice may be possible in Moscow and the Moscow region on Monday.

At the beginning of next week, Russian drivers should therefore already have to change their shoes.

By the way, we recently remembered our tire test, in which we compared summer and winter tires at temperatures close to zero. The conclusions of the experts will surprise you!

And the coldest this year will be the end of December – to minus 12°C. The coldest winter month is expected to be February, but not because of a critical temperature drop, but because of high humidity and penetrating winds.
