Based on the results of the price growth for 9 months of 2022, the weighted average cost of a new passenger car increased to 2.29 million rubles. That is 19%, or almost a fifth, more than the end of 2021.
At the end of 2021, the weighted average price of a new car was RUB 1.99 million. In the same year, it increased by 18%. For example, in 2022 there is already a record growth in the cost of new cars.
The main price jump took place between January and February 2022. Then the demand for cars fell and prices continued to rise little by little.
At the same time, the market structure has changed – there are far fewer foreign cars for sale and 40% of the market is occupied by Ladas, Vedomosti cites data shared by Avtostat executive director Sergey Udalov. Another 30% of the market was occupied by Chinese car manufacturers, which do not have such supply problems as European, American, Korean and Japanese companies.
In the secondary market, the price increase was even greater – by 59%. Today, the weighted average cost of a car here reaches 1.19 million rubles. If the shortage of cars continues, their prices will continue to rise.
