1. Take with you
This is one of the first options that comes up.
The set of documents for crossing the border is the same regardless of the purpose of the trip: rights, STS, insurance, diagnostic card. The latter is necessary – don’t be surprised! Previously, no one remembered the diagnosis card, but in the current situation, Russian drivers often began to ask for it.
However, this option is not suitable for everyone. For example, some categories of citizens cannot transport vehicles across borders for a number of reasons. In addition, it is necessary to clarify the conditions for temporary admission into a particular country. In particular, your stay may be longer than the allowed period.
There may not be a place to service the car if the model in the new location is not known to the mechanics. Finally, if you have a car made exclusively for smooth asphalt, the path to broken roads is ordered for it: either the suspension will soon “end”, or it will simply be impossible to drive with it.
Therefore, consider whether it will be expensive (and realistic!) to keep it where you are going.
Temporary importation rules differ from country to country. In Russia, for example, it is six months, after which the car has to drive back. The conditions for legalizing a car in a country, if you plan to settle there forever, should be clarified on the spot.
2. Sell
Perhaps the most profitable option. Get rid of worries and problems, and even get cash in return.
It’s just hard to do now. The number of offers on the secondary market has increased significantly in the past month. And those who wanted to buy a car, on the contrary, became less.
There is no exact single statistic yet. According to the results of the first week after the announcement of the mobilization, some analysts spoke of a 30% drop in demand for secondary housing, while others saw a 20% increase in supply at the same time.
In March, the work of car dealers (both official and “gray”) for buying and selling used cars became more active – new ones increased a lot. And this is in addition to previously uncontested marketplaces like Carprice.
Recently, however, some companies have suspended buyouts: warehouses are full and demand has increased. So the only option to sell the car quickly now is a good (below market average) price.
This year, the mobilization has deprived sellers of the traditional rise in fall sales. On the contrary, demand has dropped significantly.
3. Leave under guard
Parking space should be chosen wisely. On the street, the car as owner will quickly attract attention. They can ‘undress’ or steal: now the number of such crimes is growing. Therefore, at the time of departure, it is better to leave the car in a protected area.
A garage at GSK does not guarantee that the vehicle is safe and sound. Many parking lots have recently been actively demolished. So be sure to check if the parking lot is covered by the nearest beautification program. No one will be at the ceremony with the contents of the box. The car can be damaged during scrapping, taken to a car storage facility (and sent from there for recycling).
If you choose a covered place, it is better in a multi-storey car park. And discuss the options for remote payment directly with the landlord. Depending on the location, type of parking and arrangements, a place can cost 3-10 thousand rubles per month.
It makes no sense to keep a modern car. Even gas tanks have become plastic: you don’t have to leave them full to prevent rust. You can only remove the battery and bring it to the apartment – and the battery will keep its charge longer and it will be more difficult for the hijackers.
4. Rental
The service in Russia is not popular with private traders. And this is understandable: it is scary to give an expensive thing to a stranger for use, not being able to control him.
But if you do take the risk, the internet will tell you the right companies – there are plenty of offers. These intermediate sites promise that you can earn 30-35 thousand rubles per month on a B-class sedan.
Usually, the more expensive the car, the more income it generates. But who is going to predict the follow-up costs?
5. Give for overexposure
Leaving the car with a reliable and well-known person may be the best option. Of course, if he has a place to put the car. For example, a box in the GSK or a place in a guarded parking lot.
It is even better if it is a private house with a garage or a shed that protects from rain and sun.
Check whether your friend will be traveling by car. Do not forget to fill it in in the OSAGO policy and to tell us where and how the car must be maintained.
