According to the results of a survey conducted by Avito Auto, most drivers consider changing tires (86%) and preparing a “winter kit” (brushes for cleaning the car, ice scraper, shovel, cable, etc. ) as the first necessity when winterizing a car. These measures were called mandatory by 63%.

57% of drivers surveyed consider oil change on the eve of the winter season mandatory, a further 52% of respondents attribute battery replacement/checking to such actions.

47% think it is important to check the heating system, 41% will replace the antifreeze; 32% will definitely treat rubber door and trunk seals with silicone grease; will supply new wiper blades to 31% of those surveyed.

Who is most responsible?

Residents of the federal districts of Siberia and the Far East are most responsible for winterizing a car. Here, more than in other regions, motorists pay attention to changing the oil, replacing/checking the battery, checking the heating system and performing diagnostics.

In this matter, the geographic factor is very important: administrators from the southern and northern Caucasian federal districts are more likely than others to focus on a date on the calendar (23% and 25% of respondents, respectively).

In general, the picture for Russia is as follows:

  • 27% change shoes when the temperature becomes negative during the day and more precipitation falls
  • 25% – the thermometer reads up to 2-5 degrees above zero
  • 16% – when the temperature becomes negative during the day, regardless of precipitation
  • 16% – when the daytime temperature reaches 0 degrees.

The survey was conducted among 6000 car owners from different regions of Russia.
