Deputy Prime Minister and head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov said during a meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation between the Russian Federation and Uzbekistan.
In general, the potential for industrial cooperation between the countries is quite high; Manturov estimated it at $8.5 billion. Interstate commerce is growing at a rapid pace, rising 37% to $5.3 billion in the past six months alone.
Russia is one of the major investors in Uzbekistan’s economy, our companies have already invested about $10 billion in the country’s industry, TASS reports. Manturov noted that it was not only about Russian projects in Uzbekistan, including the joint production of trucks and cars, but also “development on the outskirts of third countries”, although he did not develop this idea.
Now in our country there is a shortage of auto parts, especially for foreign cars. Parallel imports, on which high expectations were based, have not improved the situation much so far.
