I have been driving the Vesta SW Cross station wagon for half a year now. The car is like a car. With 1.8 engine and manual gearbox. But this particular engine is known to suffer from an oil burner – not for all owners, but for many. That’s why I often get the question: well, how?

How-how – okay!

Some time ago, VAZ took a series of measures specifically aimed at reducing oil waste. And so I had a month where I had to hit the road twice to St. Petersburg in the “very fast” mode, and then also to Smolensk. Total – more than 4000 km in a rather hard rhythm.

Maslozhor manufacturer “won” for several upgrades. They changed valve stem seals and oil deflector design, improved valve quality and revised intake stage calibrations, changed recommended oil from 5W-30 to 5W-40. A little later, new valve guides were introduced.

I checked the dipstick: the oil is almost in the same place. So I see no reason to worry.
