The joint venture of Sollers and the Japanese company Isuzu has received government approval to terminate the Special Investment Contract (SPIC) – the management of Isuzu Rus and a representative of the Ministry of Industry and Trade have already confirmed the information, Kommersant reports. .
The plans under the contract remained unfulfilled – in particular they envisaged the development of the UAZ City light truck on the Isuzu N platform, as well as the localization of major components, such as the engine. The parties have not taken advantage of the benefits, so they owe nothing to the state, notes the source.
The Isuzu Rus plant, a joint venture between Sollers and Isuzu, has been operating in Ulyanovsk since 2012. Trucks with a gross weight of 3.5 to 33 tons and D-Max pickups were produced here. Last year, the company produced 3.7 thousand cars. The factory closed in the spring of 2022.
