On October 19, a meeting of the commission for the liquidation of the consequences of damage to the Crimean Bridge was held in the government. The meeting was opened by Vice-President Marat Khusnullin.
“Currently, traffic on the left side of the road bridge is running in normal mode in both directions. The bridge is open to traffic for cars and buses. For freight vehicles, a ferry crossing is organized as part of four ferries. Until trucks cross the bridge, it is necessary to increase the ferry crossing capacity and actively use an alternative overland route for freight transport,” government website quoted Khusnullin as saying.
Recall that the land route for trucks through Taganrog, Novoazovsk, Mariupol, Berdyansk, Melitopol and Dzhankoy was established on October 12. The distance is 387 kilometers, the journey time is approximately 7 hours. Trucks are escorted in a convoy.
Meanwhile, more than 1,000 heavy trucks gathered at the Kerch ferry on Oct. 20, Kommersant reported. The situation could worsen in the coming days due to the deteriorating weather.
