Toyota Motor (the Russian division of Toyota Motor Corporation) will begin laying off workers at the St. Petersburg plant in November-December, St. Petersburg Deputy Governor Valery Moskalenko said on his Telegram channel.
“It is planned to hold organizational and regular events at the Toyota plant in November-December. Employees who leave with the agreement of the parties will receive significant compensation and will retain VHI for a year after the dismissal,” he writes.
Toyota also promises to offset the cost of training or retraining employees.
Consultations are also taking place and temporary employment of employees at the Nissan factory is being organized, although the manufacturer has not yet requested a reduction in personnel, the official said.
In September of this year, it was announced that Toyota would close the St. Petersburg plant, as it sees no real chance of resuming production in the future after “six months of inactivity”.
