Serial production of Russian Superjets will begin in 2024. They replaced about 40 key components previously supplied from abroad. As a result, airplanes have changed so much that we are already talking about their new generation.
“As the Komsomol branch of the Irkut Corporation is assembling the first five SSJ new hulls, they are in varying degrees of readiness. The prototype, which will make its maiden flight in 2023, has already begun to be equipped with Russian-made systems and units. Another glider has been delivered to TsAGI for ground testing,” Denis Manturov told WG.
He emphasized that serial deliveries are possible immediately after receipt of the certificate. That is, the first “Superjets” with Russian PD-8 engines and other replacement equipment can be handed over to airlines as early as the end of 2023. Aircraft production will begin in 2024 and 20 aircraft will be assembled at the company. Everything else will depend on the needs of the market. That is, aircraft production can be increased.
“I would like to emphasize that this is not just a remotorization for a domestic engine – we are talking about creating an almost new car, about 40 imported systems and units will be replaced on it. This work involves a lot of cooperation – enterprises participating are part of the UEC, KRET, Technodinamika and many others. It is very important that it runs smoothly and that all suppliers fulfill their duties,” says Denis Manturov.
A new generation of aircraft MS-21 is also being prepared. In 2024, 6 such aircraft will be produced and after that production will be increased to 72 aircraft per year.
“Realizing that he (MC-21. – Remark. red.) is not inferior to “classmates” in all respects, originally the design capacity was intended to be 72 aircraft per year. Today, these plans are maintained and new opportunities open up for us. Demand for domestic aircraft will only grow with the gradual withdrawal of foreign aircraft from our airlines’ fleets. This not only created a high-quality product, but also created a niche in the market,” says Denis Manturov.
By 2030, Russia plans to produce a thousand new-generation aircraft that meet all world standards in terms of economy, ecology, ergonomics and operational characteristics.
