Owners of electric vehicles in Crimea do not pay transport tax. This decision of the Crimean State Council is reported to RIA Novosti. The fact that the relevant changes have been made to Article 5 of the law “On the transport tax”, writes a source citing the message of the Crimean parliament.

The reason for the changes is stated: MPs believe the measure will boost demand for environmentally friendly cars. Crimea is one of the promising regions in this regard for obvious reasons.

But the share of electric vehicles here is still small: in 2021 their sales amounted to only 0.2% of the total. Primorsky and Khabarovsk Territories, as well as the Irkutsk region, are in first place: there electricity accounted for 1% of turnover. And Crimea remained between Moscow and St. Petersburg, which have 0.3% and 0.15% respectively.
